Moorland Track Maintenance

Robert Henry

We've completed over a kilometer of track maintenance for the National Trust in the Peak District recently.

The track had deteriorated to a state making it barely passable with a Land Rover. The track is used as access for the Trust, farmers and gamekeepers and provides a valuable route on to the moors to carry out habitat management as well as access for fire fighting.

The project included re-graded the badly rutted track which had been washed out and install drainage to take the water away off the track at key points.

We made use of materials that were already on site rather than bring fresh stone up as the track was a good distance away from the road side.

The result is a well surfaced track that sheds the water that causes the damage.
